Anil Singh appointed Additional Solicitor General Western Zone

The Union government has appointed senior advocate Anil Chandrabali Singh as Additional Solicitor General of India (Western Zone) in the Bombay High Court, replacing Kevic Setalvad.
Singh's appointment as ASG for a three-year tenure was announced yesterday, according to a release issued here today.
As a lawyer in the Bombay High Court, Singh has a distinguished career spanning over three decades.
In 2011, he was unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa after winning elections by securing the higest number of votes, the release said.
Singh was also a special counsel for the government of India earlier and was until recently on the panel of lawyers representing Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and Maharashtra government in public interest matters, the release said.
Singh has also appeared for the government in various important constitutional matters.
In 2012, Singh was designated Senior Counsel by a full house of the Bombay High Court, the release said.
After his current assignment as Additional Solicitor General, Singh will represent and assist the Centre, its various ministries and bodies in the Bombay High Court, the release said.
