Anita Kaul takes over as justice department secretary

Anita Kaul, a 1979 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre, today took over as the new Secretary, Justice in the Law Ministry.
Before joining her new assignment, Kaul was the Principal Secretary, Planning in the Programme Implementation Department of the Karnataka government.
Earlier she had served as Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary in the HRD Ministry here.
She succeeds D K Sikri who retired yesterday.
The Department of Justice is responsible for appointment, transfer and resignation of judges of the Supreme Court and the 24 High Courts.
