The Madras High Court today made it clear that any appointment made to the post of Vice- Chancellor of Anna University will be subject to further court orders.
A vacation bench of justices M M Sundresh and R Mahadevan made the observation on a PIL by R Ramprasath.
The bench said any recommendation made by the search committee of the varsity would also be subject to further orders and issued notices to the Secretary of Higher Education Department and the Registrar of the University, returnable by four weeks.
The petitioner submitted that the standard of education imparted by the Anna University has declined to the extent that he himself, an engineering graduate, could not find a job, for years.
This is because of the appointment of unqualified persons as faculty, he alleged.
Unfortunately, the state government had not focused its attention towards selecting the right person for the post of VC, the petitioner said.

He further alleged that selection of the VC was done according to the whims and fancies of the search committee constituted by the government.
Stating that there were allegations that the committee members had demanded and accepted bribe for recommending the name, the petitioner sought to restrain government from appointing the person so recommended by the committee to the post of VC.
He alleged that the committee had an unqualified person as member and its recommendations should not be heeded to.
The petitioner prayed for a court direction to the government to reconstitute the committee with fresh members.
