'Annie Hall' named the funniest screenplay

Woody Allen's "Annie Hall" has topped "Some Like it Hot" and "Groundhog Day" to be voted as the funniest screenplay by the Writers Guild of America.
The movie, written by Allen and Marshall, claimed the top position in a list of 101 funniest scripts. "Annie Hall" won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 1977.
The list announced at the Arclight Cinerama Dome in Hollywood at the conclusion of two hours of panel discussions and clips, hosted by Rob Reiner, reported Variety.
Billy Wilder and IAL Diamond's screenplay for 1959 Marilyn Monroe-starrer "Some Like it Hot" was on the second spot. The script was based on the German film "Fanfare of Love".
Bill Murray-starrer "Groundhog Day", whose script was by Danny Rubin and Harold Ramis, Story by Danny Rubin, came third.
"Airplane" "Tootsie", "Young Frankenstein", "Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb", "Blazing Saddles", "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and "National Lampoon's Animal House" rounded out the top 10.
The most recent titles on the list were 2011's "Bridesmaids" (No 16) and 2009 "The Hangover" (No 30).
