Annual Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti concludes
Press Trust of India Ajmer The annual 'Urs' celebrations at the Dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti concluded here today, with an estimated over two lakh devotees participating in the 'Jumme ki Namaz' and 'Kul' ceremonies.
The last 'Shahi Mahfil' of the 'Urs' took place in Mahfilkhana of the Dargah in presence of Dargah Deevan Sajjada Naseen Sayed Janual Abedin.
The 801st Urs celebrations, commemorating the death anniversary of the Sufi saint, had started on May 11 and an estimated over five lakh devotees had participated in this year's celebrations.
A total of 22 executive magistrates were deputed to maintain law and order, District Magistrate Vaibhav Galriya said adding, more than 1,500 buses were pressed into service for the convenience of devotees.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Rajasthan Governor Margaret Aalva and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, along with Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh had offered 'Chadars' at the shrine.
