The mercury remained at above normal levels with maximum touching 41.8 degree Celsius, six points above normal and down from yesterday's 43.5 deg C, while the minimum was five notches above normal at 32.3 deg C, up from 31.4 deg C.
Humidity oscillating between 37 and 67 per cent added more misery to Delhiites.
Weatherman predicted there could be rains in some part of the city tomorrow but said it will not be monsoon rains. The temperature could be around 33 and 41 deg C.
It has been an extended summer for Delhiites as the south-west monsoon missed its date with the capital. The normal onset for monsoon in the city is June 29.
"We now have very definite sign of monsoon progressing towards northern parts of the country. It is expected to move north-west wards and under the influence of this system, we expect monsoon to cover the remaining parts of central India in next two days. By the end of this week, northern parts, including Delhi, are expected to be covered by monsoon," S C Bhan, a senior Indian Meteorological Department official, said.
The normal onset date for south-west monsoon in the capital is June 29. But last year, it reached Delhi ahead of the schedule - on June 26.

Though it came three days earlier last year, the monsoon had a late arrival in 2010. The seasonal rains started only on July five in 2010.
The earliest onset of monsoon over Delhi during the past 30 years was on June 15, 2008 and while the most delayed onset was on July 26, 1987.
During monsoon, if the city gets 645.7 mm rains it is considered normal for the capital, MeT officials said.
