The incident took place yesterday night, close on the heels of the suicide of a minor tribal girl who was allegedly gang raped by a group of men in uniform on October 10 last year in Maoist infested Koraput. She had committed suicide at her house on January 22.
Police sources said a Class 10 girl of Suanpadia village under Banapur police station limits was allegedly raped by a youth of the same village on December 31 last year.
However, the police allegedly did not take action against the accused forcing the girl to commit suicide yesterday, said Kalpana Mohanty, one of the protesters who assembled before the Banapur police station.
The villagers kept the girl's body before the police station and blamed police inaction that led to the victim in committing suicide.
