Two men were arrested today for attacking an Apple store with axes and hammers in a robbery attempt in the heart of London's shopping district, days after a daring Hollywood style smash-and-grab raid on one of the city's most iconic department stores.
The incident on Regent Street involved a Hollywood-style car and helicopter chase in the early hours of today.
Scotland Yard said two men, aged 18 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary and dangerous driving following the chase.
The two alleged members of the gang were arrested in their home after fleeing the scene on a stolen moped before being tracked by the Metropolitan police helicopter to an address in Islington.
According to witnesses, up to eight suspects on scooters smashed a 40-cm hole through the toughened glass windows of the store with axes and hammers.
They fled empty-handed with police in pursuit.

Apple store workers were seen clearing up after the attempted raid this morning and business appeared to be continuing as usual.
The attempted raid comes nearly two weeks after six burqa-clad robbers with axes and sledgehammers stole nearly 1-million British pounds worth of luxury watches from Selfridges store on nearby Oxford Street in central London.
Scotland Yard would not comment on whether any link is being made between the two raids.
