Activists of some outfits today protested here against incursion by Chinese troops in Chumar sector of Ladakh and burnt that country's flag and an effigy of its Premier.
Over 200 members of the Dogra Front and state unit of Shiv Sena took out a procession, raising anti-China slogans, to Press Club in the city against the incursion, which reportedly took place on June 17.
Chinese troops had intruded into the Chumar sector in Ladakh -- the same area which had sparked off tensions in April -- and smashed some bunkers besides cutting wires of cameras installed at the border post.
Official sources had said the intrusion took place on June 17 when the troops of China's People's Liberation Army entered Indian territory and started vandalising the observation bunkers besides cutting the wires of cameras which overlook the Chinese territory.
State chief of Shiv Sena and Dogra Front, Ashok Gupta said, "The Centre should take up this (incursion) issue with both China and Pakistan strongly and on same terms so that no such incident takes place in future."
These incursions have caused difficulties to the people living in the frontier areas besides hampering the process of development in the region, he said.
