Punjab Congress today described the anti-drug campaign in the state as "mere drama", saying while "a few addicts" were arrested, police were "not even looking at the big fishes of the cartel."
The SAD-BJP government kept its eyes closed for the last seven years and now it woke up after Lok Sabha elections, District Congress Committee (Rural) President Gurjeet Singh Aujla said here.
Now, after the poll drubbing in Lok Sabha elections, they have started the drama of uprooting the drug menace from Punjab, he alleged.
Badal realised the drug menace in Punjab only after SAD-BJP candidate and now Union Minister Arun Jaitley was defeated from Amritsar, Aujla alleged.
"Drug lord Jagdish Bhola, who was arrested last year in the multi-crore drug racket, has already named the kingpins of the drug trade in the state," Aujla said, adding "while a few addicts were arrested, police were not even looking at the big fishes of the cartel."
"The anti-drug campaign is a mere drama, he said.
Aujla said Badal must think about the expenses the state is bearing in this "haphazard" manhunt by the police.
