Activists of 'Bhagvan Shri Valmiki Yuva Vikas Committee' today took out a protest march against drugs and burnt the effigy of Punjab government for its alleged failure to curb the menace.
Led by Anu Sahota, the state president of the committee, the activists started a protest march from Singla market, passed through section of National highway 1 and converged in front of the main gate of Town Hall where an effigy was burnt.
The protesters later presented a memorandum to Phagwara SP Ashwani Kumar.

"There was a nexus between some politicians, police officials and drug mafia," he alleged adding that Dalit youths were being "lured" into drug use.
Protesters dubbed SAD-BJP government as "anti"-dalits and shouted slogans against it.
The Eknoor Welfare Society Jalandhar had also taken out an anti-drug cycle chetna rally here yesterday.
Joined by local students and activists of Phagwara-based social service groups, the rally was led by its president Pardeep Khullar.
