An anti-drug rally, led by former Maharashtra minister Kripashankar Singh, was taken out today in the western suburbs of the city, seeking immediate action against drug suppliers.
The rally, supported by Vakola and Kalina Youth Welfare Association, started from Hotel Turning Point in Vakola and ended at St. Roque Grotto in Kalina this morning. Thousands of people took part in the event.
Talking about the rally, Singh claimed, "It is extremely unfortunate that youngsters and college students are falling prey to drug addiction and local police as well as the state government have failed miserably in tackling this social menace."
"I have written a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and will also write to city Police Commissioner Dattatray Padsalgikar soon," the Congress leader said.
"I have also assured him (the CM) to extend all sorts of possible support to root out this menace from our area," he said.
