Anti-encroachment team attacked by ashram men, builder's goons

An anti-encroachment team of Ghaziabad Development authority was today attacked in Kaushambi area here, allegedly by some workers of an ashram and the goons of a local builder.
The GDA officials, who had gone to stop an ongoing illegal construction there, were targeted by ashram workers, who also called up a local builder after which his goons reached the spot and attacked the team, police said.
The team was attacked with sticks and stones were also pelted on it, they said. The attackers also snatched mobile phones of the officials.
Based on a complaint filed by the GDA officials, a case has been registered at the Indirapuram police station here, they said.
The ashram is built on a disputed land and the case pertaining to its ownership is pending before court, police said.
