Gurwinder Singh, the gunman posted with the Anti-Narcotic Cell official, and police constable Ranjit Singh, posted at police lines in Ludhiana, have been arrested, ADCP (Crime) of Ludhiana Police Balkar Singh said.
Five grams of heroin was also seized from them following which both officials were suspended, he said.
Another person identified as Dalwinder Singh was also arrested, Singh said, adding two other accused named Lakhwir Singh and Gurcharan Singh are absconding and a hunt is on for them.
The arrest of three accused including two police officials assumed significance as the Amarinder Singh government has promised to wipe out the drug menace from the state within four weeks of its assuming office.

Giving details about the case, the ADCP said both Gurwinder and Ranjit allegedly used to bring heroin from Delhi and then supplied it in Ludhiana.
They also used to impersonate as incharge of police's Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and allegedly extorted money from medical stores and those who fill LPG cylinders, he said.
The two police officials came into the contact with Dalwinder, Lakhwir and Gurcharan Singh who were already into drug trafficking, police said.
The state government has formed a Special Task Force (STF), headed by ADGP Harpreet Sidhu, to end the drug scourge within a stipulated time. A multi-state agency operation is already underway in the state to against the social evil.
