Referring to Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's visit to JNU in support of the students, he said the act was "astonishing" as Nehru's grandson sided with those who indulged in "anti-national" sloganeering.
"The anti-national sloganeering in JNU was unbelievable and an insult to Jawaharlal Nehru after whose name the university was established," he said.
Bajpai also said the action and charge against JNU students union president Kanhaiya Kumar was not too harsh as the video tapes available has established his "indulgence."
Bajpai also attacked BSP Chief Mayawati for her alleged support to "anti-national" elements and sought apology from all those leaders who supported those indulged in sloganeering.
