Anti-people policies of UPA forced me to come out: Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today claimed that the 'anti-people policies' of the UPA compelled her quit the alliance.
"Be it its attitude towards small and marginal farmers or sharecroppers, hike in the price of LPG cylinders and fertilisers .... We could not accept their policies as it went against our pro-people objectives ... And so we walked out of the UPA," Banerjee told a rally in support of TMC candidate Prasun Banerjee for the Howrah Lok Sabha bypoll on June 2.
Blaming the Centre for the financial condition of the state, she repeated her claim that the Centre was taking away a considerable part of revenue as interest on loan taken by the erstwhile Left Front government.

Speaking about the bypoll, she alleged that the Congress, CPI(M) and BJP were working together to prevent the Trinamool Congress from winning.
Banerjee, who has held four meetings in three days at Howrah alleged that although BJP had withdrawn its candidate for the bypoll, it was propping up two independent candidates.
Banerjee also claimed that her government had fulfilled all promises made in her party manifesto in just two years.
"The Left Front had wasted their 34-year rule in the state. I am now working overtime to bring about overall development of the state."
She also announced that Howrah municipal corporation election would be held in November.
