The first batch of 20,000 doses would come out from the Institute at least by another five months, by January, Dr B Sekar, Director, PII, told PTI.
The 100-year old PII, based at Coonoor, about 18 km from here, stopped production of anti-rabies vaccine, following non-compliance of WHO norms, which was revoked in February 2010, he said, adding, since the process of anti-rabies production is very long, marketing was also delayed.
The institute can market one dose of vaccine for Rs 100, once production is taken up on a large-scale, he said.
