Michael Radford is directing the film. Producers are Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi through their Ambi Group and Roberto Sassa via his Picomedia company, reported Variety.
"The Music of Silence," based on Bocelli's 1999 memoir, will include songs that Bocelli composed when he was young but have never before been released. Ambi is financing and producing.
"The Music of Silence" will be told from Bocelli's view in the form of an autobiographical novel, naming his alter ego Amos Bardi.
Sebastian will play Bocelli while Banderas will play the role of Maestro. Molla and Luisa Ranieri will play his parents and and Ennio Fantastichini will portray his uncle.
The screenplay was written by Anna Pavignano and Michael Radford in collaboration with Andrea Bocelli.
Principal photography is slated to begin this month in Rome.
