Apna Dal MP Anupriya Patel today came out against her mother and party president Krishna Patel's decision to appoint a vice president for the outfit, saying it was against their constitution.
"There is no post of a vice president in the constitution of the party. So the appointment of Pallavi Patel, my elder sister, to the post is wrong," Anupriya told reporters here.
"The president cannot form any new post by herself... A unanimous resolution cancelling the appointment made to the post of vice president was passed in the national-level working committee meeting on Oct. 20," said Anupriya, who is also the general secretary of the party.
As to questions of differences within the family over the issue, Patel said, "A propaganda has been going on for some time now against my party and family... Party and family are separate units, if some people are not able to understand it, then it is their narrow-mindedness which I condemn.
"The reports about differences between me and my mother and me and my sister are totally wrong... There are no such issues between us."
Anupriya said that the party has decided that the nomination of anybody for any post can be made only after an amendment of the constitution passed by a national convention of the party.
As to her sister's appointment, Anupriya said that the former has no political experience. About her mother's role in the matter, Anupriya said that even big leaders some times make mistakes.
Pallavi was recently appointed vice president of the party by her mother and Apna Dal president Krishna Patel.
