: Declaring that Puducherry has won her heart and its people do not clamour for credit for achievements, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi said any plan formulated for development can be implemented quickly in the nion Territory.
"Puducherry is a different region. It is naturally and spiritually gifted Union Territory. People are simple and nobody runs for credit for achievements but has commitment to make Puducherry a better place".
Puducherry has won my heart and I find the unique feature after having travelled the world over and also in different parts of the country'.
She was addressingpolice officers on the concluding day of a three-day workshop on 'capacity building programme for police officers' conductedby Traffic police in association with the Institute of Road Traffic Education, New Delhi here.

Bedi said soon after assuming office in May this year, she came to know of the large number of road accidents and hit on the idea of associating IRTE for an effective plan to bring down fatalities and injuries
She said she immediately formed a Road Safety Action group, comprising officials of engineering, enforcement and education wings of the government. They would visit various points and prepare reports through a WhatsApp group for follow up action. There would be frequent training programmes.
Earlier IRTE President, Dr Rohit Baluja, who also spoke, said Puducherry was the 39th city for IRTE to conduct programmes on road safety.

He presented a power point display to bring to focus the problem pockets in management of traffic and underscored the need for adequate road marking and traffic engineering.
