TRS, BJP and YSR Congress Party members stalled the proceedings of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly today in support of the demand for separate Telangana and other issues.
The TRS and BJP members stood in the well of the house demanding that the Assembly pass a resolution favouring formation of separate Telangana.
The YSRCP members also stood near the Speaker's podium and demanding that the national status be given to Polavaram and Pranahita-Chavella Irrigation Projects in the state.
Speaker N Manohar initially adjourned the Assembly for half-an-hour. However, similar scenes were witnessed when the house reassembled.
Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy introduced the Andhra Pradesh Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill 2013, even as the slogan shouting continued. The main opposition TDP members were on their feet at their seats.
The finance minister regretted that the opposition members did not follow what they spoke in the meeting of Business Advisory Committee (BAC) two days ago.
Asserting that the Government is ready for debate on all the issues, he appealed to the members to let the House function smoothly.
As the opposition members did not relent, the speaker again adjourned the house for 30 minutes.
