For the Nellore Lok Sabha seat, 13 candidates stayed in contest as the last date for withdrawal of nominations ended today, according to state Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal.
Briefing newspersons this evening, the CEO said 25 candidates, all of whom filed their nominations for Assembly seats, withdrew from the race in the last two days.
Ongole constituency has the highest number of 23 contestants followed by 19 each in Tirupati and Rajampet.
Narasannapet and Polavaram (ST) segments have the lowest number of candidates (six each).
Prominent among the contestants for the Nellore Lok Sabha seat are former Union Minister T Subbarami Reddy, on behalf of the ruling Congress, and Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy of the YSR Congress.
