The Chief Minister may lead a delegation of Union Ministers and MPs from the state to request the Prime Minister for adequate supply of gas, official sources said here today.

"During the meeting, the Chief Minister will request the Prime Minister to cancel the diversion of gas to Ratnagiri power plant. He will also impress upon the PM to supply additional gas to the state to overcome the present power shortage," sources said.

The CMO has sought an appointment with the PM tomorrow.

Reddy has addressed a second letter to the Prime Minister requesting that the diversion of gas to Ratnagiri plant in Maharashtra be cancelled, they said.

The Chief Minister held a high-level meeting today with top officials and reviewed the status of power generation, gas supply, orders of diversion of gas to Ratnagiri plant by the Ministry of Petroleum, they said.

The Centre had issued an order on August 1 that two million metric standard cubic meters per day (MMSCMD) of gas be diverted from the Krishna-Godavari Basin to Ratnagiri.

Already starved of gas for its power plants that have been working with a plant load factor of only 30 per cent, Andhra Pradesh would now get only 1.48 MMSCMD of gas from Reliance's D6 wells. (More)
