Telugu Desam Party (TDP) district president B Arjunudu said here today that Andhra Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu would operate the first pump of the Pattiseema irrigation project on September 16.
He told reporters that the AP CM would do so after successful interlinking of the state's two rivers namely Godavari and Krishna at the Prakasam Barrage at Vijayawada.
Meanwhile, state irrigation officials said that Godavari river water reached the Pallerlamudi village on September 9.
The Godavari water which was released from the Tadipudi Lift Irrigation Scheme (TLIS) a week ago, will flow through Seetharamapuram, Veleru, Remalle, Veeravalli, Rangannagudem, Balliparru, Tampalli, Veerapanenigudem, Kothagudem, Chikkavarm, Gollanapalli, Gopavarigudem, Surampalli, Nunna, Ambapuram, Nainavaram, Kothuru and Tadepalli villages to reach the Budameru diversion channel at Velgaleru village, where it will merge with the Krishna river, irrigation officials said.
Irrigation officials said that they had released about 6,000 cusecs of Godavari water stored in TLIS in West Godavari district to the Polavaram project's main canal.
The water flowed 130 km to reach the edge of Krishna district at Pallarlamudi village and the water would reach the Prakasam barrage on Krishna river in four days through the Budameru canal, officials said.
