AP Governor, CM greet people on eve of I-Day

Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today greeted people of the state on the eve of the 67th Independence Day.
"Independence Day is a day of remembrance as well as dedication. Our freedom struggle is the culmination of the sacrifice of generations of selfless patriots, young and old, men and women cutting across the barriers of caste, religion and region from all over the country. Today is a time to bow in remembrance of all those whose vision made it possible for us to enjoy the fruits of freedom," the Governor said in his message.
"Andhra Pradesh has been at the forefront of nation building and particularly our farmers have been the backbone of the nation. We have a legacy of a great tradition as well as culture. The benefits of development should reach every village, habitat and every citizen to fill his heart with hope as well as joy, should be our endeavour," the Governor added.
The Chief Minister said the youth should draw inspiration from the great leaders of our freedom movement and dedicate themselves to the noble task of nation building.
"Let us pledge to uphold the integrity and sovereignty of our nation and unite to steer India to greater heights," he added.
Reddy recalled the unforgettable services of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom and security of our country.
"The best way of paying homage to those brave sons of our country will be to resolve that we will always stay committed to strengthening unity and integrity of our nation. Let us all together take a vow that we will spare no effort to take India to greater heights," he exhorted.
Telugu Desam Party president and Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu also conveyed his greetings to the people on Independence Day.
