AP govt to bring new scheme to compensate kin of dead

Death of a person, even if natural, under the age of 50 will soon qualify for financial assistance in Andhra Pradesh where the government is set to launch a new scheme to compensate families in the event of a bereavement.
He did not specify whether it would be an ex-gratia or insurance cover, but Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today announced that Rs 2 lakh would be paid to a family in the event of the death of a member, even due to a natural cause.
"So far, under the Chandranna Beema (insurance scheme named after the CM), we having been paying Rs 5 lakh to the kin of the deceased in the event of an accidental death.
"Similarly, we are paying Rs 5 lakh to those permanently injured. Now, we will pay Rs 2 lakh to the kin of every deceased under the age of 50 years," the chief minister said at a public meeting in Srikakulam district.
He, however, did not go into the specifics of the new scheme or to whom will it apply.
Under Chandranna Beema, a chosen beneficiary is required to pay a premium of Rs 15 to avail of the scheme.
