AP govt to establish medical college in every district

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Health K Murali today said the AP government plans to establish one medical college in every district.
The government has allocated Rs 6,500 crore during the ongoing financial year for health services and already Rs 300 crore were spent to purchase medicines for government hospitals, he told reporters while inspecting a municipal women's hospital here.
About 70 lakh families have benefited under the 'Arogyasri' scheme, which provides free medical services to the poor in corporate hospitals, he said.
He said that the AP government has decided to provide health cards for all state government employees for free health services and it also would be extended to advocates and other sections very soon.
A super speciality hospital at a cost of Rs 290 crore would be set up in the city on 100 acres of land, he said.
