Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to implement digital classrooms concept from the next academic year in all residential schools across the state, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said here today.
Senior Tata ClassEdge officials, including CEO Nirav Khambhati, called upon Naidu at Secretariat and made a presentation on the concept, the Chief Minister's Office said in a statement.
On the occasion, Naidu suggested to the Tata Group entity to partner with Cisco in implementing the programme.
These lessons would make children connect virtually and enable them to think and visualise lessons instead of reading them out of a book, the release quoted Tata ClassEdge officials as saying.
They informed Naidu that this model has been implemented in 350 schools in Maharashtra.
"This would cost Rs 5-8 lakh per class," the officials told Naidu.
"The digital classrooms concept will revamp the education system in the state," the statement quoted Naidu as saying.
Under the digital classroom concept, which is fast catching the trend in various states, teachers can use interactive multimedia content to supplement the standard textbook-and-blackboard approach.
