AP receives award for contribution to renewable energy, hydro

Andhra Pradesh has been conferred the best state award in the country in energy security, governance and sustainability in recognition of its contribution to the development of renewable energy and hydro power.
Renewable Energy Promotion Association presented the award to AP Power Generation Corporation (AP Genco) for achieving a gross allocated-cum-installed capacity of 14 Giga Watts and renewable energy portfolio, including hydro power, of about 4000 MW in the power generation matrix.
Member of Parliament R K Jena presented the award to AP Genco officials in New Delhi today, a release from the State Energy Conservation Mission here said.
AP recently received the Solar Excellence Award for its efforts to promote solar power while Genco managing director K Vijayanand received the Sourya Ratna award in recognition of his leadership, the release added.
