Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments today amicably resolved a row over office space and documents concerning higher education.
The dispute was resolved following talks between Telangana Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari, who looks after education, and Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao.
The breakthrough came following directives by common Governor ESL Narasimhan.
"The Governor directed that we sit and come to a decision so that students of Telangana or AP are not inconvenienced for EAMCET counselling (admissions). We discussed as per High Court judgment and Supreme Court interim orders," Srihari said.
"Some files and records of AP State Council of Higher Education are there in Telangana State Council of Higher Education. We were asked to hand them over. It was accepted and an eight-member committee with four each from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh would be appointed (in this regard)," he added.
It was agreed that both the states will take their concerned files and records, he said.

Srinivasa Rao said talks were held with the motto of both states being the future of the students.
"Counselling (for admissions) in AP is happening on June 12. For that, data and records are needed. Since those are in their (Telangana) control, our officials could not move ahead. We clearly said it and the minister has agreed. He said you immediately take the records," he said.
The row was over Telangana reportedly taking control of offices of AP government. The issues concerning the higher education following bifurcation of undivided AP also went to the courts.
