Parliamentary Secretary (Tax & Excise) T Taku appreciated the department for becoming the highest revenue earner of the state and stressed that more efforts should be put in to plug the revenue leakages to generate more earnings for the state exchequer.
Tax & Excise assistant commissioner Tapas Dutta told a day-long review meeting here yesterday that the department has initiated several steps to plug revenue leakages last fiscal.
It was also highlighted at the meeting that if tax deducted at source (TDS) was monitored properly and the excise duty and excise license fees were increased, revenue generation could be boosted further in the years to come.
Secretary-cum-Commissioner Marnya Ete said all officers should work with sincerity to achieve the target and earn more for the state coffer.
He also asked the officers to conduct workshop on TDS to create awareness and cross verify the records as to whether TDS is being done properly or not.
