The three-member probe committee, set up to fix responsibility in the death of Sanjoy Roy at Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, has extended the deadline of submitting its report by a day to the West Bengal government.
According to a senior officer at the state health department, the committee, which was supposed to submit its findings today, will now do so tomorrow.
The delay was caused by the opting out of a member of the panel Madhusudan Banerjee, the source said.
Makhanlal Saha, another senior surgeon of a state-run hospital, has replaced Banerjee now, with gastroenterologist Prof G Dhali and Health Services Director Biswaranjan Satpathy being the other two members.
"The panel is working at a fast pace and the report will be submitted to the department by tomorrow," the officer said.
Earlier, the inquiry committee, set up by the West Bengal government, had reported medical negligence, delay in release and tampering of documents as reasons for the death of Sanjoy Roy. As the report failed to pinpoint blame, the three-member panel was set up.
