Appeal would be filed against acquittals in several cases related to heinous crimes such as rape and murder, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said today.
Parrikar told reporters that the state's 'litigation policy' on this was firm; appeals would always be filed in the cases of acquittal in cases of heinous crimes.
"There are several cases which need to be taken to the logical end," he said.
Goa government recently put into effect 'litigation policy'.
As per the policy, no appeal would be filed in the cases where the crime carries a sentence of less than three years. But exception would be made in the case of crime against women or children, where an acquittal will be appealed before the higher court.
