Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said the appointment of Advisors by Governor N N Vohra indicated that there will not be an early end to central rule in the state and wondered whether fresh elections would be held this year.
"This clearly indicates that Gov Vohra doesn't see an early end to central rule in the state. Elections this year?" Omar tweeted.
His comment came after Vohra appointed retired IAS officers Pervez Dewan and Khurshid Ganai as Advisors to help him in running the administration.
The state has been under Governor's Rule since January 8, a day after the then Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed passed away.
PDP and BJP, which ran a coalition government for 10 months headed by Sayeed before his demise, have not staked claim to form the next government.
Vohra had on February 2 invited PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and BJP state president Sat Pal Sharma for clarifying their stand on government formation in the state but both put the onus on each other.

PDP, with 27 MLAs in the 87-member Assembly and BJP with25 legislators, ran a coalition government headed by Sayeed for 10months before his demise on January 7.
Mehbooba, who is seen as the successor to her father as the Chief Minister, has set a slew of conditions for the BJP government at the Centre before she could take steps to form the government.
Omar said Mehbooba's posturing was a political drama to fool the people. "Even the BJP doesn't know what the PDP is demanding. Take about a political nautanki (drama) by Ms Mufti to fool the people!" he said.
