The excavation is being organised by the National Heritage Board, and it is taking place ahead of the Urban Redevelopment Authority's enhancement plans for the Civic District, Channel News Asia reported.
Excavation site at Empress Place located right in front of the Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall, is more than 1,000 square metres in size making it the largest excavation site on the island state to date.
Some of the artifacts found could be at least 700 years old, said archaeologists.
