The rite, which began in the St Francis of Assisi Church, located near Se Cathedral, was presided by the Archbishop, who later on led the faithful in the procession to the Cathedral Church to mark the 'Door of Mercy' open.
The Archbishop, while celebrating the Eucharist, urged the people gathered to obtain the benefits given by the Pope in the Year of Mercy.
The Holy Father has declared an extraordinary jubilee year of mercyfrom December 8, 2015 toNovember 20, 2016. More than 3,000 people attended the celebration.
