Banerjee, who is part of a three-member side eyeing to seal the Olympic quota place, lost his bow case containing all the equipment and a new set had to be purchased in the USA.

This means the archer would have had difficulty in setting his fingers ahead of the meet, to be held from June 19-21.

Confirming the development, the Archery Association of India secretary general, Paresh Nath Mukherjee told PTI: "We did not want to take any chance. So we have already procured a new equipment for Rahul (Banerjee) so that he will be able to compete.

"At the same time, we are trying our level best to get the lost equipment back before the Olympic qualifiers as that is very crucial for us. We have two days to go for the competition and I am sure he will be able to adjust to the new equipment."

One of the top three Indian men archers, Banerjee, failed to get his shooting equipment as it got lost in the transit during his flight from New Delhi to Salt Lake en route to Ogden, where tournament is scheduled.

Equipment of other two archers, Jayanta Talukdar and Tarundeep Rai, and luggage's of the six-member Indian team however were received.

More From This Section

India have already secured Olympics berth in the women's section in which Deepika Kumari, Laishram Bombayla Devi and Chekrovolu Swuro have made the cut. In the men's half, Talukdar is the sole entry at the moment.

If India make the cut in both the sections, it would be a first after their 2004 Athens participation.

London Games is scheduled from July 27-August 12.
