Arhar, urad prices spurt on hectic demand

Prices of arhar and urad surged up to Rs 300 per quintal at the wholesale market today on the back of rising demand from retailers amid restricted supplies from producing belts.
Traders said rising demand from retailers in the face of restricted supplies from producing belts mainly pushed up arhar and urad prices.
In the national capital, arhar and its dal dara variety shot up by Rs 300 each to Rs 7,750-7,850 and Rs 9,150-9,300 per quintal respectively.
Urad and its dal chilka local rose by Rs 250 each to Rs 7,750-8,150 and Rs 8,550-8,750 per quintal respectively.
Urad dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 8,750-9,350 and Rs 9,150-9,450 per quintal respectively.
Gram edged too edged up to Rs 4,600-5,250 from previous level of Rs 4,500-5,200 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality were up by Rs 100 each to Rs 4,900-5,100 and Rs 5,000-5,300 per quintal respectively.
