Armed men rob Rs 30 lakh from cash van; guard, driver shot at

In a broad daylight heist, three men allegedly opened fire at the guard and driver of a cash van of a nationalised bank and looted Rs 30 in Chiraiyakot area of the district today.
The three motorcycle-borne men intercepted the cash van and opened fire on driver Saeed (45) and guard Tribhuvan (40), police said, adding that both were injured and rushed to a Azamgarh hospital in a serious condition.
They looted Rs 30 lakh from the van and fled.
The van had collected the money from Mohammadabad branch of the bank and was going to deposit it in Chiraiyakot branch when the robbery took place near Karmi village, police said.
