The manhunt has been intensified to nab the three other armed robbers who allegedly ran away with the booty, Police Commissioner Radhakrishna said.
Gang members had entered the shop and asked its owner Kaushik Chokshi to show them some gold ornaments, after which they looted the gold ornaments and fled.
However, a mob managed to catch one of the robbers who was armed with a gun.
According to the police official, the incident took place on Sunday when armed robbers entered the jewellery shop, hit the shop owner with the butt of a pistol, looted gold ornaments and fled the spot.
No firing took place in the shop, the police official said.
