A joint force of Ganjam police and the DVF (District Voluntary Force) raided a Maoist camp located inside the Indragarh forest in Raikia, close to Ganjam-Kandhamal border, DIG (southern range) Amitav Thakur said.
Stating that possibilities of injuries in Maoist side cannot be ruled out, Thakur said there was a heavy exchange of fire between police and the ultras. The rebels later fled from the scene.
"Members of the out-lawed CPI(Maoist) may be involved in the exchange of fire with police," Thakur said.
