Arms seized from Odisha forest

Security forces seized weapons hidden by the Maoists inside a forest in Odisha's Sundargarh district, police said today.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of CRPF and District Voluntary Fiorce (DVF) launched operation in Silkuta Reserve Forest near Langalkanta yesterday and seized four guns, three small bore rifles and a pistol, Additional Superintendent of Police R Panigrahi said.
He said the seuzure was made in the reserve forest area which was considered a stronghold of the Maoists.
The seizure came close on the heels of recovery of three rifles, detonators, gun powder and liquid explosives from the area recently, the ASP said.
The area is very close to Sarnda forest, which has a sinificant presence of Maoists.
