While two terrorists of the Garo National Liberation Army were apprehended in Goalpara district yesterday, a cadre of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) was arrested from Chirang, a Defence spokesperson said in a statement.
"The sinister designs of terrorists to disrupt communal harmony and peace during the puja and festive season in Goalpara and Chirang districts of Lower Assam were averted by Army troops of the Red Horn Division," he said.
The Army also recovered three pistols and large quantities of ammunitions from the terrorists.
"The Army has been carrying out proactive operations in Goalpara, Dhubri, Kokrajhar and Chirang districts of Lower Assam to thwart any evil design of terrorists and neutralised four hardcore terrorists of NDFB(S) in a fierce encounter in Kokrajhar district on September 28," the release added.
