Army chief flags off vintage car rally
Press Trust of India New Delhi Army chief Bipin Rawat today flagged of a vintage car rally here and hoped that such events would encourage motoring tourism in the country.
The rally began from August Kranti Park near India Gate here and is set to culminate at Buddha International Circuit, Greater Noida via Purana Killa Road, Mahatma Gandhi Marg and DND toll road.
Among those participating in the seventh edition of the rally, organised by 21 Gun Salute Heritage and Cultural Trust, include owners of 1912 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, 1976 RR Phantom 5.
A military vehicle, earlier owned by Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, was also on display at the event.
"I have had opportunity to witness some cars, they have been excellently maintained. The heritage of vintage and classic are being kept alive because of dedication of the owners...The event will promote motoring tourism in the country," Rawat said before flagging of the rally.
