It was his first visit to the school after taking over as the Chief of Army Staff.
Speaking on the occasion, General Singh said the foundation of his career was laid at PPS. "I built my competence and skills here," he said.
The Army chief got nostalgic when he stepped into the dormitory where he used to stay during school days. "My eyes got wet for a moment when I saw it," he said.
The dormitory, which is now a classroom, was specially refurbished to look like the old place where the general lived in the 1960s.
He interacted with the students and said he had never thought he would become the Army Chief. "I owe everything to my school. I am privileged to be here as chief guest. Thank you very much PPS Nabha," he added.
A bright student and an avid sportsperson, the general studied here from 1962 till his matriculation in 1967. He was twice awarded the most creative student award for his paintings.
Later, he joined National Defence Academy (NDA) in 1968 and was commissioned into the Sikh Light Infantry (Sikh LI) regiment on March 31, 1972.
