Army flags off cycling expedition to highlight safe flying

A cycling expedition was flagged off by the Army today from Udhampur-based northern command headquarters to commemorate the 32nd raising day of the Indian Army Aviation Corps.
The expedition aims at spreading the message of flight safety and educate people en route about their responsibilities in ensuring a safe flying environment, an official spokesman said in a statement here.
A six-member team will traverse a distance of 544 km during the expedition, covering Yol in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh via Palampur and culminate at Nagrota here onOctober 13.
The spokesman said Army Aviation Corps of the Indian Army was raised on November 1, 1986 and has done yeoman service to the nation by providing aviation support during crucial military operations and natural disasters.
The expedition is a tribute to the continuous and dedicated service provided by the Army Aviation Corps since its inception, he added.
