Army organises awareness drive on cardiovascular diseases

To spread awareness among the soldiers on the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases, Army's 136 Station Health Organisation today organised a symposium at the 166 Military hospital here.
The awareness drive was organised to mark the World Heart Day.
"On the occasion of World Heart Day, an awareness drive on Prevention and Control of Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD) was organised for serving personnel and families in the form of Symposium and Exhibition at 166 Military hospital," the Jammu based Defense spokesman Lt Col Manish Mehta said.
Stressing on the theme, the chief guest, Brigadier MM Harjai, commandant of the 166 military hospital said, "the places in which we live, work and play should not increase our risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVD)."
The lecture which was organised to raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases, the biggest cause of death worldwide, covered the role of overeating, lack of exercise, unhealthy diets, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high glucose levels triggering heart diseases.
