Army's GOC (Bengal) Lt Gen A K Choudhary named for PVSM

Making him one of the most highly-decorated Generals in the Indian Army, General Officer Commanding (Bengal Area) Lieutenant General A K Choudhary has been selected for the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), officials said today.
Choudhary, who has already been felicitated with Ati Vishist Seva Medal, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, is among those selected for the PVSM by President Pranab Mukherjee.
PVSM is awarded in recognition to peace-time service of the most exceptional order.
Choudhary is the only officer in the entire Army who has the distinction of serving at functional as well as directional levels in the Directorate General of Military Intelligence as well as Directorate General of Military Operations.
Earlier, as a Commanding Officer in Manipur he was awarded Vishist Seva Medal, as Brigade Commander in J&K he was given Sena Medal and as General Officer Commanding in Manipur the General was honoured with the Ati Vishist Seva Medal.
He has effectively and tactfully dealt with insurgent groups in both Nagaland and Manipur.
An alumni of Sainik School, he was commissioned in the Indian Army in 1974.
