"Brig. Rajinder Singh and others have laid down their lives in past. Like them, Army will lay down their lives to defend Jammu and Kashmir," General Officer Commanding (GoC), 16 Corps, Lt Gen D S Hooda said, while addressing on the occasion of 66th Infantry Day here today.
Lt Gen Hooda said, "We, the Army personnel, want to assure you (people) that, whether we are posted in the hinterland or on borders, we will perform our job with dedication."
Praising Brig Rajinder Singh and others, who have laid down their lives fighting Pakistani raiders moving towards Srinagar in 1947 while stopping them at Uri, he said, "It is to the credit of Brig Singh that J&K is with us as Pakistan was making all attempts to capture it."
On the occasion of 66th Infantry Day, Major General Ashwani Kumar, General Officer Commanding of Tiger Division, today laid wreaths at the J&K State Forces War Memorial and Tiger War Memorial in Jammu Cantonment.
