Army XI Kolkata today bulldozed into the semi-finals of the 4th All India Football Tournament for Bihar Cup by thrashing State Bank of Travancore (SBT) 3-1 at the Moinul Haq stadium here.
The players of Army XI dominated the game right from the start and took a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute through a goal by Arjun Tuddu when his powerful right footer found the target.
The SBT outfit had a solitary chance to equalise in the 23rd minute but Sahjeer's shot went in vain and the first half ended 1-0.
In the second half SBT grouped together to create a few chances, but their forward line did not turn them into goals. Finally Jijo Joshep managed to sneak one in the opposition nets in the 55th minute after receiving a pass from Shahjeer.
The scheduled play time ended 1-1 and the match went into extra time.
The Army men completely dominated the extra time and pumped in two goals within nine minutes.
Arjun Tuddu struck in the 94th minute through a penalty and Manjoor Herojitn pipped in the 99th minute after getting a cross pass from mid-fielder Francis.
